Thank you for your interest in undergoing metabolic rehabilitation with the help of Dr. John C. Lowe. On this page, we explain the options available to you for undergoing metabolic rehab. If you need clarification or answers to questions, please phone Tammy Lowe 603-391-6061, or write to her at Tammy@drlowe.com. On another page, we give details on preparing for and coming to the Dr. Lowe's clinic for a comprehensive metabolic evaluation. If you plan to come to the clinic, please print and read the page so that you understand the details. Metabolic Rehabilitation. Dr. Lowe works with patients in variety of ways. His purpose is to help the patients recover or optimize their metabolic health. For some patients, improving or recovering involves simple lifestyle changes or therapies the doctors recommend. Other patients improve or recover only when they go through "metabolic rehabilitation." This is a highly systematic protocol that enables patients to precisely control their therapeutic process, providing the greatest likelihood of success. If you intend to undergo metabolic rehab, it's extremely important that you understand exactly what it is. Please read our page describing its high precision based on repeated evaluations of objective measures of the patient's metabolic and health status. Some patients decline to use all the essential components of metabolic rehab. This choice means that they are not really undergoing metabolic rehab. The therapeutic outcome for these patients is usually far less successful than metabolic rehab is capable of providing them. Dr. Lowe works with many patients long distance. Some of these patients come to his clinic in Boulder, Colorado for an initial comprehensive metabolic evaluation. There, he evaluates and works with metabolic rehab patients. While in Boulder, patients may see Dr. Lowe's prescribing doctor to get whatever prescription(s) they may need. After the patients return home, Dr. Lowe works with them long distance while they undergo metabolic rehab. Other patients don't come for the evaluation in Boulder. Instead, their local doctors treat them with the benefit of educational guidance by Dr. Lowe. If you cannot make the trip to Boulder, you can use Dr. Lowe's book Your Guide to Metabolic Health to set up your own program of metabolic rehab. While setting up the program, and while going through the treatment, Dr. Lowe can work with you long distance. The purpose of long-distance consulting is to help you go through metabolic rehab properly so that you stand the best chance of fully recovering your health. An advantage of coming to the Boulder clinic is that Dr. Lowe can perform a full metabolic evaluation. The evaluation will include measuring your resting metabolic rate and your body composition. The testing will show whether or not your metabolism is abnormally low. If it is, the evaluation will clarify the factors most likely responsible. You can then correct or eliminate the identified factors through your regimen of metabolic rehab. If You Have a Cooperative Local Doctor. If you have a cooperative local doctor, you can, without coming to Dr. Lowe's clinic for a full evaluation, consult long distance with Dr. Lowe. If you come to the center, however, after your return home, Dr. Lowe will use the information from your evaluation to help you set up your program of metabolic rehab. With the information from the evaluation, he'll be better able to tailor your treatment program to meet your individual needs. You and your local doctor can then implement the treatment. Dr. Lowe will take part by long-distance consulting with you and possibly your doctor. Regular
monitoring of changes in your symptoms are essential to metabolic rehab. To appreciate this,
please read our webpage on metabolic rehab as a precise, data-drive
therapeutic approach. You can monitor your symptoms yourself
by using the simplified method Dr. Lowe describes in Your Guide
to Metabolic Health. Another option is for you to regularly fill
out Dr. Lowe's evaluation forms, send them to the clinic to be scored
and posted to line graphs,
and then consult with Dr. Lowe about any needed changes in your treatment regimen. Full
