Consulting Services of
Dr. John C. Lowe

Dr. Lowe offer patients three types of long-distance services other than telephone consultations. These include (1) lab test interpretations, (2) case history reviews, (3) ongoing long-distant consulting with patients and their doctors. Before reading about each of these services, please read the introduction below by Dr. Lowe. In it, they explain why many patients today choose to use their consulting services, finding them overall less expensive and more convenient.

Four Consulting Services

As we explained above, Dr. Lowe provides four consulting services for patients and their physicians:

Dr. Lowe takes the customary precautions in protecting the confidentiality of those who consult with them.

! Lab Test Interpretation

Dr. Lowe provide a lab test interpretation service. For a fee of $200.00, they interpret two sets of (1) thyroid function test results, and (2) two sets of SMAC, chemistry, and CBC results. For every additional two sets of results, they charge an addition a $50.00 fee (the $50.00 is in addition to the initial $175.00 fee). The sets of results must be from tests previously ordered by doctors. Please send all your lab test results together.

With your lab results, please send (1) a brief (roughly one page) history of your health problem and (2) a list of your symptoms.

The doctors usually send a brief written report after they receive an individual's lab test results, brief history, and list of symptoms. If you want, they'll also send a report to your physician. Your report will be sent to you according to your preference (e-mail, fax, snail mail).

! Case History Review

Dr. Lowe will review your health care records and give an opinion based on them.  Please mail your records to the snail mail address below. With your records, please send a written history of your previous and current health status and a list of your symptoms.

It will be most helpful if you also fill out a set of our evaluation forms. You can print a set of the forms as pdf files using Adobe Reader. Of you can get a set by e-mailing us at Tammy@drlowe.com. We will snail mail the forms to you.

The fee for the case history review and verbal report at the hourly rate of  $250.00. The fee for the case history review and a written report at the page rate of $200.00.

Please allow up to two weeks for the doctors to complete the review. If you want, they'll also send a report to your physician. Your report will be sent to you according to your preference (fax or snail mail).

A faster way to get advice and guidance from Dr. Lowe is his telephone consulting service.

! Ongoing Consulting With
Patients and Their Doctors

Dr. Lowe consults with and advise patients and their  doctors. An initial fee may be necessary. The fee will depend on the time spent reviewing the patient's health care records. Often, however, the patient and/or the doctor briefs Dr. Lowe on the details of the case during a telephone consultation. The time of the consultation is billed at a rate of $210.00 per hour ($4.25 per minute). The time Dr. Lowe spends reviewing your records or other documents, and any time he spends working on your behalf after your evaluation is charged at the same rate. This is also true of the time Dr. Lowe spends talking with the other doctors on your behalf.

How to Send Your Records

You may send your records by snail mail or fax. Please read details of each of these below.

(1) Snail mail: Please mail your records to the following address:

Dr. John C. Lowe, PLLC
1800 30th Street, Suite 216
Boulder, CO 80301

(2) Fax: (303) 496-6200.

(3) Email: You may email your records to the following email address: tammy@drlowe.com. However, please read the following:

The federally-mandated HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act) went into effect on October 13, 2003. HIPAA contains some draconian dictates for health care practitioners and huge financial penalties if practitioners are found guilty of violating them. Because of this, since October 13, 2003, we can accept emails containing health care records only if they are encrypted, and we can send emails containing information about a patient's health status or care only in encrypted form. Encryption software can be downloaded free. We use this downloadable encryption software and will be able to read emails from patients only if they have encrypted the emails with the same software. If you send an encrypted email, please let us know the code for opening the email. Thanks for your cooperation with this inconvenience imposed by the threat of HIPAA violations. If you find all this utterly confusing, please contact us 303-413-6003.

If you send information from your records by email, please include the information in the email itself. Please don't send records as attachments to e-mails. We don't download email attachments.

Method of Payment

(1) You may send a check or money order to the address in (1) in the section above.

(2) You may pay by Visa or MasterCard. Please give your credit card number and expiration date to us when you make your appointment, or to the doctor at the beginning of your consultation.

The fees given on this page were posted on April 18, 2007. They will apply until we post a notice on this page of a change in the fees. We reserve the right to change the fees at our discretion at any time. Whenever the fees change, we will post notice here with the date of the change. The changed fees will apply to any services delivered on or after the new posted date.
