Consulting Services:
Greater Convenience &
Lower Costs for Patients

Dr. Gina Honeyman-Lowe and Dr. John C. Lowe

Since 2000, we've seen hopeful changes in health care for patients. These changes have led to greater convenience for many patients. We're now working with more patients on a long-distance consulting basis. This means far fewer of them have to travel to our Center for Metabolic Health in Boulder, Colorado. Instead, many now stay at home and work with cooperative local doctors with our long-distance assistance.

Until 2000, practically every patients we worked with had to come to our clinic. Some of our patients were local, but most came to us from other states and countries. The patients had to travel to see us and our cotreating doctors because they didn't have doctors in their home towns who'd cooperate in providing proper treatment. But then doctors began to abandon conventional medicine in droves, turning to the gentler and more rational alternative medicine. As a result, most patients we now work with have doctors in their home towns who're willing to provide the patients with alternatives to conventional treatments. One of those alternative forms of treatment is our scientifically-based metabolic rehab.

In addition to more doctors using alternative medicine, word of our scientific studies has spread far more widely than before. And as word has spread that metabolic rehab gets and keeps most patients completely well, more doctors are cooperating with their patients' requests to be treated according to our approach. Expanded awareness of our work is partly the result of patients obtaining copies of The Metabolic Treatment of Fibromyalgia and lending it to cooperative doctors. The authority of the book is obvious: Its massive scientific documentation (it contains 6,000 scientific references) and the conclusions based on it are convincing. As a result, upon examining the book, many alternative doctors are willing to cooperate in providing patients with treatment based on our guidance. Few of the doctors thoroughly study our publications as well as patients do. But the doctors do scrutinize our publications well enough to know that we're correct in our beliefs. They know we're correct that hypothyroidism and thyroid hormone resistance are the main (but not the only) causes of the so-called "new diseases," such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. And they know metabolic rehab effectively and permanently frees most patients from those new diseases.

Expanded awareness of our work has also come about from patients and their  doctors reading our book Your Guide to Metabolic Health. In the book, we give patients a simplified version of metabolic rehab. This enables them to guide their own treatment with minimal cooperation of their doctors. This has made it easier for doctors to cooperate in their patients' rehab. Patients who're using the book have advanced knowledge of the rehab process. Some of the patients run into obstacles to their recovery and need long-distance consultations with us. Because of their advanced knowledge, we spend less time consulting with them by phone than we do with patients who aren't using the book. This reduces amount they spend on consulting.

As we said, this hopeful progress is a convenience for many patients who live in other cities, states, and countries. Without traveling from their home towns, they can benefit from one or more of our services described below. The service most patient use, however, is telephone consulting. We suggest that you consider it first.
