Gene Therapy with Coffee and Tea
Dr. Gina Honeyman-Lowe

In 1995, Dr. Majid Ali proposed in his book The Canary and Chronic Fatigue that oxidative stress was a major cause of diseases afflicting people today. Studies have vindicated his view. With the current administration’s policies worsening the oxidative stress we’re subjected to, we must protect ourselves from the harmful affects by increasing our antioxidant power. Drinking coffee and tea each day can help us do this by increasing the activity of an important gene.

New Self-use Device for Measuring Your Metabolic Rate:
Doubts About its Usefulness
Dr. John C. Lowe

We have recently received emails from readers asking our opinion about a new device that lets you measure your own metabolic rate. The device is called LifeChek™. I (JCL) have read the website for LifeChek™, given the information serious thought, and formed an opinion. It is one of doubt.

"Only T4 is Transported into the Brain": A Widespread False Belief
Dr. John C. Lowe

Through the years, I've regularly received emails and letters from doctors and patients in which they've express a particular belief: that T3 isn't transported across the blood-brain barrier into the brain. Presuming this to be true leads the doctors and patients to corollary belief: that is, if you don't take T4 along with T3, your brain won't get enough thyroid hormone to function normally. To anyone who has studied the relevant research literature, both of these beliefs are patently false. It's high time we correct this widespread false belief.
