A Word About Dr.
Nicholas Calvino When I first met Dr. Nicholas Calvino, he was still a student in chiropractic college. Despite his not having graduated yet, I was astonished by his encyclopedic knowledge of what we call the biomedical sciences. From my early communications with Dr. Calvino, I had the impression that he was one of the most intelligent and best educated people I've ever met—even considering the host of veteran researchers and clinicians I've had the privilege to work with. My continuing communications with Dr. Calvino have verified the truth of my initial impression. I respect Dr. Calvino for his vast, scientifically-accurate knowledge of clinical medicine and the basic sciences that underlie it. My respect for him is deepened, however, by his uncompromising commitment to the pursuit of scientific truth. And that respect is greater still because of his compassionate concern for the welfare of humankind. When Dr. Calvino received his doctorate, graduating Cum Laude, I sent a heartfelt message to him: "Congratulations, Dr. Calvino! I can tell you with utmost sincerity that I'm proud to have you in our profession. Your being a member instantly raises the profession's caliber. Thanks for being a colleague." As I've gotten to know him better, I feel entirely justified in having made this statement. Here, I want to thank Dr. Calvino for accepting our invitation to post some of his articles on drlowe.com. We're confident that readers will find his articles useful. Readers may contact Dr. Calvino by e-mail. |
